Anime Pacific Remastered: Episode 12

We really had several key issues with the film, 300, which was number one at the box office when we originally recorded it. We discuss the OVA series, Freedom, and product placement. We then read e-mails in which listeners reiterate how they enjoy the Asian stuff as opposed to the "strictly anime" stuff. Alex reviews Gasaraki and CLAMP are the Anime (people) of the week. Download episode twelve, here .

Anime Pacific Remastered: Episode 11

In this episode, a corpse caused mayhem for Alex and his parents, Ai Iijama retires (she would unfortunately be found dead several months later), Alex reviews Code Geass and Dane reviews the South Korean animated film, Aachi & Ssipak! Download episode eleven, here .

Retrospective (Episodes 1-10)

It's a brand new, "very special episode", of Anime Pacific in which Dane discusses his thoughts upon relistening (and remastering) to the first ten episodes as well as some anecdotes on what made the cut during the remastering and why. Download this very special episode, here .

Anime Pacific Remastered: Episode 10

In this episode, Alex reports in from the oldest, and whitest, part of Canada. We discuss the, "very exciting" new second season of Code Geass (which neither of us never ended up watching). We review the original Toyoo Ashida-directed version of Vampire Hunter D . Download episode 10, here .

Anime Pacific Remastered - Episode 9

Our "reporting the news" phase continues, and Dane reviews the first bunch of episodes of a promising little show called Gintama ! In the original release of this episode, it literally went to chipmunk voices, and I... left it in . This was not done on purpose and was a technical error. This has been corrected, eighteen years later. Yoshihiro Togashi was our Anime Person of the Week . Download episode nine, here .

Anime Pacific Remastered: Episode 8

I had forgotten how news-heavy the early episodes were. Rest assured, the news segement eventually disappears. We discuss the success of the live action film version of Dororo, which, we reported was going to be made into a trilogy. And that, dear listener, (sigh) let's say it together: Totally happened . We review the CG version of Appleseed. This signalled what I affectionally call the beginning of, "the shittening" of Shinji Aramaki. Go Nagai is the Anime person of the week. Alex also discussed Zero Woman: Red Handcuffs. Download episode 8, here .

Anime Pacific Remastered: Episode 7

This originally featured quite a bit where we discussed our special appearance on the podcast, Anime Genesis . Given that all traces of Anime Genesis have been wiped off the internet, this whole segment now has no real value, as this intertextuality is of no real interest to anyone who can't hear the original audio. We also continue discussing the (apparently in production, circa 2007) live action Metal Gear Solid once again. Interestingly, and this is something I had completely forgotten about, we discuss the whole Otakukin subculture. The great, and now late, Osamu Dezaki was our Anime Person of the Week. Download episode seven, here .

Anime Pacific Remastered - Episode 6

We dicuss various things such as the casting of Solid Snake for that Metal Gear Solid film adaptation that totally happened. We also review(?), the very tasteful Anime adaptation of Rapeman. Download Episode six, here .

Anime Pacific Remastered - Episode 5

Alex has passionate feelings regarding the Kano sisters, we discuss the news and Dane reviews Arashi No Yoru Ni ; the film. (Stay away from the poorly animated 3DCG tv series). Download episode five, here .

Anime Pacific Remastered - Episode 4

This episode, which should be retitled as " Charmingly Dated ", we discuss Katsuhiro Otomo's Freedom Project . We discuss that "upcoming" 2009 release date of the live action Neon Genesis Evangelion, which totally happened. We also discuss that show that is totally still-remembered , Afro Samurai. Download episode four, here .

Anime Pacific Remastered - Episode 3

Alex complains about " Legend of the Galactic Heroes ", we discuss Nissan's conceptual cars that were featured in Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society , and our Anime Person of the Week is none other than Toshio Maeda; who in retrospect, is entirely a manga person. Download Episode three, here .

Anime Pacific Remastered - Episode 2

A very short episode where we just discuss the news. No reviews or Anime Person of the Week but still an interesting time-capsule. Download episode two, here .

Anime Pacific Remastered: Episode 1

Download Episode One, here . This was originally episode four of Anime Pacific. Dane reviews Mad Bull 34. Dane: I've since read the entire manga series, and...what a ride! Michael Arias is the "Anime Person of the Week". Enjoy!

Anime Pacific Remastered: Episode 0

Download Episode Zero, here . Anime Pacific was a podcast that began in 2006, during the nascent era of podcasting. Unlike today's polished landscape, the podcast sphere was then almost entirely amateur-driven. How times have changed. For the next eight years, Anime Pacific enjoyed a dedicated following; I like to call it the first "mid-tier" Anime podcast. This was despite what are, in retrospect, some truly exasperating audio issues. Equally frustrating were the audio filters and edits, added for comedic effect. With all that said, this podcast does serve as a time capsule of Anime fandom in the mid 2000's up until 2014. Ever the archivist at heart, the Anime Pacific Remastering Project aims to fix all these glaring issues for posterity. We do not expect this to create a new generation of fans; it is merely a humble time capsule of simpler times yet made more palatable for the expectations of listeners in 2024. This episode, titled episode zero, is entirely n...
